From off campus you can now access your files stored in your Home directory(H:) or in a Group directory(W:)

The server's address is "network.sc.maricopa.edu".

Login Instructions:

You can access files stored in your Home directory from off-campus in two ways:

1. Use an FTP client (FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol) like WS_FTP for Windows and Anarchie or Fetch for the Macintosh (available for download at many Internet sites).

For users of WS_FTP you must set your host type to: UNIX (Standard).

Once you have installed and configured the FTP software, connect to network.sc.maricopa.edu. Your userID is the same one you use to log into your workstation on campus. You will be asked to provide your password.

You should find yourself in your home directory, and you ought to be able to transfer files back and forth between the server and your home computer. An added feature is that you are allowed to browse to your group areas as well.

The file structure for the FTP server has the following lay out.

Home directories:
/files/client/username

Group directories:
/files/group/groupname

2. You can also transfer files using the FTP capabilities of your web browser.

NetScape Instructions:
In the location bar, type

ftp://username@network.sc.maricopa.edu

You will be prompted for your password.

By default you will be in your Home directory. As a shortcut to get to your group directories you can use the following location.

ftp://username@network.sc.maricopa.edu/files/group

Internet Explorer Instructions:
It is recommended that you are using the latest version of IE available. We have found versions above 5.0 to work well with these instructions.

In the location bar, type

ftp://username@network.sc.maricopa.edu

You will be prompted for your password.

By default you will be in your Home directory. As a shortcut to get to your group directories you can use the following location.

ftp://username@network.sc.maricopa.edu/files/group

Older versions of IE
WARNING your password will be entered in clear text and is viewable to people around you and in your link history.

In the location bar, type

ftp://username:password@network.sc.maricopa.edu

You will be prompted for your password.

By default you will be in your Home directory. As a shortcut to get to your group directories you can use the following location.

ftp://username:password@network.sc.maricopa.edu/files/group

To transfer a file into your space on the server, just drag and drop it onto the web page. To transfer a file from your server space to your home computer, right-click on the file and select the Save Link As option.
